Writing Narrative

I am learning to write a narrative story.

I'll know I can do this when my stories have:

- Character - Setting - Introduction - Problem - Climax - Conclusion - Descriptive language such as smilies and metaphors - Character speech using speech marks

This is my narrative plan.     

This is a narrative I have been writing it is about Top who becomes evil and wants to destroy his best friend Spike the shoe .

Something I found hard was the problem.

Something I learned was that narrative is about a story that is real or fake.

Writing Report

I am learning to write an information report.

I'll know I can do this when I can plan and write an information reports with a title, topic sentence, and a group of facts about a subject.

Something I found hard was my spelling because I had a lot of spelling mistakes.

Taiao

In Taiao I have been learning about chickens. I have learned about the parts of a chicken, some facts about chickens, the parts of an egg (which I used to make an omelette), and what a chicken needs to be happy and healthy.

Something I learned was that there are other country's that eat different  parts of chickens.

Music

In music with Mr McCullum I have been learning to play the ukulele.

I'll know I've been successful when I hold the ukulele correctly and can strum the cords.

Something I learned was the song smoke.

Learner Qualities

I am learning how to empathise

I'll know I can do this when I can identify a variety of ways I can show empathy to others.

I will empathise by helping others in need.

Reading Pangaro

I am learning to apply our prior knowledge to a text.

I'll know I can do this when I can think of ways I have connections to a text and I can use those connections to help decode unfamiliar words and ideas.

Something I enjoyed was finishing my can do's and my must do's.

Art Don Binney

I am learning to create art inspired by Don Binney. I'll know I can do this when I have created a landscape with a foreground, middle, and background.

My bird and my background are coloured using pastels and natural colours.

Something I learnt was the birds because some of them have interesting facts.

Maths Tapawha Hangai

I am learning to solve addition and subtraction problems by exchanging ones for tens, and tens for hundreds.

I'll know I can do this when I can use column adding to solve problems.


Something I enjoyed was my divides.

Creative Writing - Scripts

We are learning to write scripts to create a play.

We know we are successful if our script has:
- multiple characters
- a setting
- character speech
- stage direction (in a different colour to the speech)

Once we have written our scripts we are creating the plays using Puppet Pals.

My play is called "The Princess and Prince's Journey"

Peace Week 2017

I have been learning about Peace Week.

Peace Week is an annual tradition organised by The Peace Foundation every year. You can learn more about The Peace Foundation by following this LINK.

As a way to learn about Peace Week I did three different Peace Week activities.

With Miss Brennan we created a poster to help promote peace and Peace Week.

With Mrs Baker we made hand print doves and wrote messages of peace on them.

With Mr Horn we looked at the symbols of peace such as the dove and created origami doves.

Student Led conference

My highlight at my student Led conference was showing my family my writing because I love writing.

I am most proud of sharing my statistical investigation because I just finished it before my student Led conference.

I think my parents enjoyed my student Led conference because I was braver that time.

Next time I would like to be more confident at my next Student Led conference.

Procedure Writing

WALHT write a procedure.

Something I learned about writing a procedure is we need to have a goal.

Something I would like to do better is to use  better adverbs.

Dance

We are doing hip hop and salsa at dance.
I enjoy dance because we do different moves.
I learned that in salsa when the girls go backwards the boys go forward.

Statistics

WALHT  Display data in a bar graph.

Something I learned was the x axis is the bottom part and the y axis is the side.

Creative Writing - Poem

WALHT  add a twist to our writing.

Here is my poem.

I didn't get to see animals at the Zoo because I'm  scared of all nice animals.

I didn't  see animals at the Zoo because they were all stuck in the swimming pool.

I didn't see Santa because he was not Santa he was Santa's helper.

but I did see my friends.

I didn't go to Malaysia because I didn't have summer clothes.

I didn't get to ride a saber tooth tiger because they're extinct.

I didn't know it was Christmas because I over slept.

but I did go to Hanmer Springs.

I didn't eat a submarine because I can't eat metal.

I didn't eat sushi because I don't like sushi.

I didn't eat lolly's because my mum said no.

but I did eat McDonalds.

Next time I would like to add more humour to my poem.

I have been learning to create an example of onomatopoeia.

Next time I would like to learn more about onomatopoeia.

I have been learning to be safe around the kitchen.
We made delicious apple crumble.
I learned that you have to take turns with the knives.
A question I have is why did we have to put ginger in there because it was spicy?
A question I have is why we have to hold our knives  like that?
